Google Maps live transit


Google has announced a new and interesting features for Google Maps. It will be available for both desktop and mobile. Will be useful for all people that every day must travel by public transport. Live Transit offers the possibility to browse, in detail, the situation in real time. We'll can see:

  • all the bus stops
  • when the bus will come and stay updated on any delays
  • plan a route with the ability to view the actual departure times and service alerts
Actually the project is in a testing period, it is available only for some cities: Boston, Portland, San Francisco, Oregon, San Diego, Madrid and Torino.
Google revealed that is working with partners for public transports to provide real-time data in more cities.

  1. Cool news, hope they'll get it working even here in Italy. Could be a very useful help for everyone, especially students that uses public transport a lot. It's really another ambitious project from google!!
